Elgin entered their tilt with Cory-Rawson on Thursday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Fighting Hornets. The Comets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Hornets, too.

Elgin never let Cory-Rawson on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 26-24, 25-9.

Elgin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kadence Gear, who had eight kills and eight aces. Those eight aces gave Gear a new career-high. Jordan Wall was another key player, getting 11 kills and six aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Elgin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Cory-Rawson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Elgin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Tree of Life Christian on the 20th. As for Cory-Rawson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Waynesfield-Goshen on the 23rd.
