Football Recap: Everman Comes Up Short

Everman had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 65-17 loss at the hands of the Argyle Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 356th, while the Eagles are ranked 23rd).

Although Everman took the loss, they still got scores from Barrington Stricklin and Princton Roberts.

As for Argyle, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

Maguire Gasperson produced another solid effort throwing for 247 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also punching in one TD on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (161.5). Obadiah Goble was another key player, gaining 60 total yards and two touchdowns.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Everman is set to square off against their familiar foe Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Argyle will take on rival Seguin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,038 yards in their previous games.
