Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Widefield Gladiators

For the second straight game, Coronado will face off against Widefield. The Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Gladiators at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coronado is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 27 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Widefield on Tuesday. They lost 11-2 to the Gladiators. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Gladiators recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Widefield's part, they got a massive performance out of Nick Prantl, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Prantl a new career-high. Zak Kawakami also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Widefield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
