Basketball Recap: Eagle Ridge Christian Comes Up Short

Eagle Ridge Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 66-53 defeat to the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles. If Eagle Ridge Christian was looking for revenge after losing 46-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Liberty Christian Academy to victory were Willy Mueller and Phoenix Obermann. Mueller dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards, while Obermann went 6 of 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Mueller is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Meyer, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Eagle Ridge Christian now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Eagle Ridge Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Rivers of Life Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Louis Christian HomeSchool K is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
