Baseball Game Preview: Cedaredge Bruins vs. Olathe Pirates

The Cedaredge Bruins will take on the Olathe Pirates at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Cedaredge beats Olathe with 12 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bruins beat Meeker on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-4. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won four in a row.

Olathe came out on top against Rangely on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 18-7.

Jack Combs made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Olathe got a massive performance out of Braylon Lujan, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Lujan has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Ramirez, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Olathe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive contests.

Olathe's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Cedaredge, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
