Volleyball Recap: Fernandina Beach Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Parsons Christian Academy on Monday, Fernandina Beach came back down to earth. The Pirates came up short against the Yulee Hornets on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Fernandina Beach was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-11, 25-22.

Loss or not, Fernandina Beach got some senior leadership from Ava Maggart and Zatie Venditti. Maggart had seven kills, three blocks, and three aces, while Venditti had seven digs and two aces. Maggart is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Yulee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mylie Breutzmann, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Fernandina Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Yulee, with the victory, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Fernandina Beach will head out on the road to take on Hilliard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Yulee, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against West Nassau at 7:00 p.m.
