Baseball Recap: Mount Juliet Takes a Loss

Mount Juliet scored first but ultimately less than Summit in their game on Friday. They lost 13-5 to the Spartans. The Golden Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Mount Juliet got a good showing from Cason Cunningham, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Mount Juliet saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Finney, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Baylor Osborne was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mount Juliet has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-1 record this season. As for Summit, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Mount Juliet will head out on the road to challenge Siegel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Summit, they will welcome Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
