Valley Christian Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Coastal Christian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Valley Christian Academy made easy work of Coast Union and carried off a 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won four in a row.
Chase Barretto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, James Fakoury was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Valley Christian Academy is undefeated when Fakoury posts three or more RBI, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tomas Kramer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Valley Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Coastal Christian was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Shandon as they made off with a 13-2 victory.
Coastal Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Everything went Valley Christian Academy's way against Coastal Christian in their previous meeting back in April, as Valley Christian Academy made off with a 10-1 win.
