Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Rebels vs. Charlestown Pirates

Southwestern is a perfect 3-0 against Charlestown since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Southwestern Rebels will host the Charlestown Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Southwestern sitting on four straight victories and Charlestown on five.

On Saturday, Southwestern earned a 62-51 win over Scottsburg. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Warriors are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Charlestown over Salem in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Charlestown blew Salem out of the water with a 72-30 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Southwestern's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points over those games. As for Charlestown, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.

Southwestern didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Charlestown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory. Will Southwestern repeat their success, or does Charlestown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
