Softball Recap: United Takes a Loss

United had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-18 to make it 14. They came up short against the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Jays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

Kenedi Fiochetta made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Conemaugh Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Conemaugh Valley's side, the team relied heavily on Katie Ledwich, who fired off three home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those nine RBI gave Ledwich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Megan Bilak, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

United wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-1 loss against Conemaugh Township on the 6th. As for Conemaugh Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 22-0 win against Greater Johnstown on the 7th.
