Preview: Burns Broncs vs. Saratoga Panthers
The Burns Broncs and the Saratoga Panthers will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Burns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
Burns struggled with assists on Friday (Douglas had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Burns was outmatched by Douglas at home and fell 68-33. While losing is never fun, Burns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Douglas is ranked first).
Josie Barrett was Burns' leading scorer, having posted eight points. Barrett also led the team in rebounds with six.
Jordan Griess took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with eight assists.
Meanwhile, Saratoga ended up a good deal behind Little Snake River on Saturday and lost 59-44. Saratoga has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Burns has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Saratoga, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything went Burns' way against Saratoga in their previous meeting back in February of 2021 as Burns made off with a 53-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burns since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
