Softball Recap: Aledo Bearcats vs. Monterey Plainsmen

Aledo had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Monterey Plainsmen on Saturday as the Aledo Bearcats made off with a 7-1 win. Aledo might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 22 games by six runs or more this season.

Brenlee Gonzales made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Gonzales has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive pitching appearances. Gonzales was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Marina Tavares was excellent, going 1-for-2 with a home run. Addie Perry was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Aledo, bringing their record for this year to 33-3. As for Monterey, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-13-3.

Aledo will take on Centennial on Saturday. Aledo is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road. Monterey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
