St. Joseph-Ogden and Pontiac are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

St. Joseph-Ogden came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-1 to Mt. Zion. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pontiac got themselves on the board against Olympia on Monday, but Olympia never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Spartans.

Elena Krause was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Nevaeh Vogt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pontiac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Pontiac's record is now 11-3. As for St. Joseph-Ogden, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6.

St. Joseph-Ogden couldn't quite get it done against Pontiac in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
