Basketball Game Preview: Sigourney Savages vs. Lone Tree Lions

The Sigourney Savages will face off against the Lone Tree Lions on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Sigourney blew past WACO, posting a 62-33 win. The Savages have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Lone Tree came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Crusaders 55-36.

Lone Tree's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points over those games. As for Sigourney, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Sigourney beat Lone Tree 46-33 in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sigourney since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
