Baseball Recap: Warwick Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Warwick challenged Kingston on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-5. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Warwick got a good showing from Luca Scotto, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Scotto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Luca Siebert and Garrison Sobo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Siebert went 2-for-3 with one home run and two stolen bases, while Sobo went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Siebert launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Sasse, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for Warwick and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Kingston, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warwick will face off against Monticello at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kingston, they will challenge Valley Central at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
