Football Recap: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Jesuit Tigers
Bishop Verot had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They received a blow as they fell 33-14 to the Jesuit Tigers. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macrae Thompson, who rushed for 99 yards on only 13 carries, and also caught one TD. Thompson's longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another passer making a difference was Austan Cristiaan, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Will Griffin was a one-man wrecking crew For Jesuit. as he threw for 301 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. That's the most passing yards Griffin has posted since back in October of 2024. Mikey Vernon did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 140 receiving yards.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Verot will square off against True North Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jesuit, they will take on Benjamin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
