Rock Creek dropped their record down to 5-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Santa Fe Trail Chargers by a score of 4-3. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2015.

As for Santa Fe Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.1 runs.

For Santa Fe Trail's part, Gretchen Huizenga was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Huizenga was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brooke Neidhardt was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Addalyn Sleichter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Santa Fe Trail beat Rock Creek by a score of 5-4 later that day.
