Basketball Recap: Monona Grove Takes a Loss

Monona Grove lost against Waunakee back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Monona Grove Silver Eagles received a blow as they fell 63-47 to the Waunakee Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Silver Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Warriors are ranked 12th).

Monona Grove has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Waunakee, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Monona Grove will take on DeForest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waunakee, they are taking a road trip to square off against Oostburg at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oostburg knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matches -- so hopefully Waunakee likes a good challenge.
