Basketball Recap: Family Christian Now 14-2 over Last 16 Games

On Friday, the Family Christian Flames were able to grind out a solid win over the West St. John Rams, taking the game 54-47. Given the Flames' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Rams are ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why West St. John lost, don't look at Naheim Gastearl. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. The contest was Gastearl's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jahavon Grows, who scored ten points.

Family Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for West St. John, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
