Basketball Game Preview: Woodlan Warriors vs. Heritage Patriots

The Woodlan Warriors will challenge the Heritage Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodlan is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Woodlan beats Heritage with 45 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Woodlan strolled past Bluffton with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 45-29. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly 16 points.

Woodlan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Moore, who posted 12 points and seven boards. Oliver Adams was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Heritage hadn't done well against Adams Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Heritage walked away with a 53-45 victory over Adams Central. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Woodlan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. As for Heritage, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Woodlan won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January of 2024, slipping by Heritage 52-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodlan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
