Football Game Preview: Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers vs. Stratford Academy Eagles

The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers will face off against the Stratford Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mount de Sales Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They walked away with a 10-0 win over Tattnall Square Academy.

Mount de Sales Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Braylon Mitchell and Bryson Harrell. Harrell also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11.

Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last game, Stratford Academy made sure to put some points up on the board against Tattnall Square Academy on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Trojans, posting a 49-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by 27 points or more so far this season.

Mount de Sales Academy better focus on containing Tyler Stephens and Tucker Johnston as the pair were huge in Stratford Academy's win. Stephens rushed for 121 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while Johnston threw for 132 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Johnston a new career-high in passer rating (158.6).

Mount de Sales Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Stratford Academy, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2.

Mount de Sales Academy took a serious blow against Stratford Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 56-13. Thankfully for the Cavaliers, Connor Fitzpatrick (who threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
