Softball Recap: Sparrows Point Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chesapeake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sparrows Point). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chesapeake Bay Hawks a 23-0 shutout on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Pointers with their most commanding win of the season.

Sparrows Point got a massive performance out of Alana Meurer, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Meurer has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emily Cook, who earned four runs and five stolen bases.

Sparrows Point has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Chesapeake, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

As of now, neither Sparrows Point nor the Bay Hawks have any future games scheduled.
