Softball Recap: Rolesville Comes Up Short

Rolesville had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-15 to make it six. They fell just short of the Wake Forest Cougars by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Rolesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Bolster, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Wake Forest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-1. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Wake Forest's side, Jil Livengood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. Livengood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Rolesville will take on East Wake Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wake Forest, they will face off against Millbrook at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
