Basketball Recap: Newmarket Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Newmarket put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Epping Blue Devils, posting a 53-9 victory. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Blue Devils are ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newmarket's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.2 points per game. As for Epping, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newmarket will venture away from home to challenge Profile at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Newmarket's defense has only allowed 17.9 points per game this season, so Profile's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Epping, they will head out on the road to square off against Colebrook Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Colebrook Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Epping surely won't give up without a fight.
