Recap: Nixa Eagles vs. New Madrid County Central Eagles
On Saturday, the Nixa Eagles faced the New Madrid County Central Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Nixa took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Madrid County Central. Nixa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as New Madrid County Central apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
New Madrid County Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jadis Jones, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of New Madrid County Central's points. Another player making a difference was BJ Williamson, who scored 23 points along with three steals.
Nixa's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for New Madrid County Central, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nixa will challenge Neosho at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neosho has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for New Madrid County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Poplar Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poplar Bluff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while New Madrid County Central is ranked third).
