Norwalk put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 25-6 win over the Lynwood Knights. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Knights are ranked 713th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norwalk was led to victory by Diego Cerritos and Axel Bustamante. Cerritos rushed for 118 yards, while Bustamante rushed for 18 yards and one score. Cerritos' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 118 rushing yards dating back to last season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Norwalk was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lynwood only rushed for 130.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Norwalk's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Marcus Castillo with two.
Norwalk's record now sits at 6-0. As for Lynwood, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norwalk will take on Compton Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Rising Phoenix's rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lynwood, they will face off against Gahr at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
