Basketball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell lost against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy last Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mountaineers lost 57-33 to the Gryphons.

Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samara Jones, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Hargro, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-48 defeat against Hendersonville on the 12th. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 66-17 win against Carolina International on the 12th.
