Basketball Game Preview: East Laurens Falcons vs. Dodge County Indians

The East Laurens Falcons will face off against the Dodge County Indians at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Laurens comes in on five and Dodge County on three.

Last Tuesday, East Laurens made easy work of Jefferson County and carried off a 69-45 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Warriors are ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Laurens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kemario Mitchell out in front who went 9 of 16 en route to 23 points and six steals. Tylan Snead was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dodge County). They enjoyed a cozy 74-59 win over Wilcox County on Saturday. The Indians pushed the score to 62-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.

East Laurens pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Dodge County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

East Laurens lost to Dodge County at home by a decisive 78-60 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Thankfully for East Laurens, Jaedon Mcclendon (who posted 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
