             Apex had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with  a   46-38  win over the Athens Drive Jaguars. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
 Apex had a senior duo take command as  Sandeep Cheekati  went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points plus two  steals and two  blocks and  Zaelyn White  went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points plus three  steals. The dominant performance also gave  Cheekati a new career-high in  three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Another player making a difference was  Stephen Beatty, who  earned seven points.
 Loss or not, Athens Drive got some senior leadership from  Chay Smith and  Collin Peters.  Smith  posted 11 points, while  Peters  went 5 for 8 en route to 11 points.  Luca Wistehuff was another key player,  scoring six points.
 Athens Drive dropped their record down to 0-2 with the  defeat, which was their seventh straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Apex has already played their next contest,  a  67-48  loss against St. Petersburg on the 22nd. As for Athens Drive, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  matchup,  a  54-49  win against Cary on the 22nd.
