Basketball Recap: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. North Schuylkill Spartans
The Jim Thorpe Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Schuylkill. Jim Thorpe has not had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Zane Zulkowski was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds for North Schuylkill. Zulkowski has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Jack Keiter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Jim Thorpe's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-20. As for North Schuylkill, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
Jim Thorpe will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Pine Grove is ranked 635th, while the Olympians are ranked 657th). As for North Schuylkill, they will head out on the road to square off against the Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
