The Laney Buccaneers and the Garner Trojans squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Laney Buccaneers had to settle for second. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), Laney still had to take the loss.
Laney's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Helms, who scored 24 points, and Hezron Driver who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Driver has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Hall, who scored seven points.
Laney's loss dropped their record down to 23-5. As for Garner, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
Laney does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Garner, they will head out on the road to square off against Green Level at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garner is coming into the game with 16 straight wins on the road, so Green Level will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
