Preview: All Saints Episcopal Trojans vs. Shelton Chargers
The All Saints Episcopal Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Shelton Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
All Saints Episcopal suffered their biggest defeat since November 25, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-53 walloping at the hands of McKinney Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, All Saints Episcopal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1029th, while McKinney Christian Academy is ranked 418th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caz Franks, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 43.4% of All Saints Episcopal's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hill, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Shelton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 64-39 loss at the hands of Prince of Peace. Shelton has not had much luck with Prince of Peace recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
All Saints Episcopal has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Shelton, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
All Saints Episcopal strolled past Shelton when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 61-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for All Saints Episcopal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
