Softball Recap: Lakeside School Wins Going Away Against Southern Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ezekiel Academy, Lakeside School was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Southern Christian Patriots with a sharp 14-8 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chiefs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Addison Phillips made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calleigh Caldwell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Amelia Clements, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lakeside School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lakeside School's record is now 3-1. As for Southern Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Lakeside School will have a chance to go back-to-back against Southern Christian: the pair will be back at it again later today.
