Baseball Recap: Comeaux Triumphs

Comeaux took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against David Thibodaux, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comeaux Spartans skirted past the David Thibodaux Bulldogs 5-4. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Reese Boutte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cohen Rentrop, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Comeaux pushed their record up to 5-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for David Thibodaux, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Comeaux will head out on the road to face off against Westgate at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westgate has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.43 runs per game on average), something Comeaux will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for David Thibodaux, they and Rayne will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday.
