Baseball Recap: Calhan Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Calhan and Evangel Christian Academy have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 28-7 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Justin Fader and Riley Cochran stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fader scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Cochran went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Fader also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Crippen, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Calhan's loss dropped their record down to 1-4-2. As for Evangel Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Calhan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Las Animas on the 2nd. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will face off against Custer County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
