Basketball Game Preview: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Mattamuskeet Lakers

The Hobgood Charter Raiders will challenge the Mattamuskeet Lakers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobgood Charter is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Hobgood Charter ended up a good deal behind Northside - Pinetown and lost 65-48. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Panthers are ranked 262nd).

Hobgood Charter might have lost, but man, Hudson Roberson was a machine: he went 10 for 19 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Jacob Tutor was another key player, putting up five points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Mattamuskeet came up short against Southside on Thursday and fell 45-37.

Mattamuskeet's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hobgood Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Hobgood Charter didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mattamuskeet in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win. Does Hobgood Charter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mattamuskeet turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
