Preview: Hilton Head Island Seahawks vs. Brunswick Pirates
The Hilton Head Island Seahawks will head out on the road to face off against the Brunswick Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hilton Head Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Hilton Head Island was able to grind out a solid win over Hampton County, taking the game 47-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hilton Head Island.
Among those leading the charge was Leah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Hilton Head Island's points. Deja Godsun was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Brunswick lost to Lowndes at home by a decisive 50-36 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Lowndes is ranked tenth).
Hilton Head Island's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Brunswick, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Hilton Head Island was taken down by Brunswick 69-31 in their previous matchup back in November. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hilton Head Island was down 43-12.
