Basketball Recap: Village Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Glades Day

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Village Academy). They strolled past the Glades Day Gators with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 73-56. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

Village Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shawn Promaphil led the charge by putting up 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. Those seven rebounds gave Promaphil a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roodley Valentin, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards.

Village Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Village Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Glades Day, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Village Academy and Glades Day will both be playing Seminole Ridge the next time they take the court. The Tigers will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Gators will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
