Preview: Whitinsville Christian Crusaders vs. Assabet Valley RVT Aztecs
Whitinsville Christian is 3-0 against Assabet Valley RVT since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Whitinsville Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Assabet Valley RVT Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. Whitinsville Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Whitinsville Christian managed to keep up with Maimonides until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Whitinsville Christian suffered a tough 59-35 defeat at the hands of Maimonides. While losing is never fun, Whitinsville Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Maimonides is ranked 64th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleb Deters, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Desmarais, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Assabet Valley RVT pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to St. Paul on the road by a decisive 72-56 margin. Assabet Valley RVT has struggled against St. Paul recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Whitinsville Christian now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Assabet Valley RVT, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Whitinsville Christian beat Assabet Valley RVT 47-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitinsville Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
