Basketball Game Preview: First Coast Buccaneers vs. Westside Wolverines

The First Coast Buccaneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Westside Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Coast has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

First Coast is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Wolfson by a score of 51-49 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Westside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Leon 58-25. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Lions are ranked 104th).

Westside's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for First Coast, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

First Coast came up short against Westside in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 59-50. Can First Coast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
