Basketball Recap: Oakwood Academy Falls to Columbia in First Game of Season

Oakwood Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 51-38 to the Columbia Eagles on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Oakwood Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joanna Caldwell, who shot 42% from the field en route to 12 points. Bruklyn Dublin was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Columbia's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Oakwood Academy has already played their next contest, a 48-38 loss against Skyline on the 15th. As for Columbia, they will square off against Huntsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
