Recap: Lanett Panthers vs. Valley Rams

The Lanett Panthers won the last time they faced the Valley Rams, and things went their way on Saturday too. Lanett greeted the New Year with with a 64-46 victory over Valley. Given Lanett's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Valley is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lanett got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was MaKiah White out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Lancaster, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.

The win makes it two in a row for Lanett and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for Valley, they bumped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Lanett will head out on the road to face off against Loachapoka at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Beauregard at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Beauregard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Thursday.
