Softball Preview: Georgetown Eagles vs. Bowie Bulldogs
The Georgetown Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Bowie Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Georgetown came out on top against Pflugerville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 18-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Bowie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Maroons a 15-0 shutout.
Kate Bookidis looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Bowie got a massive performance out of Bella Nungaray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Nungaray has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lauer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bowie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Georgetown's record is now 20-9-1. As for Bowie, their record now sits at 16-7.
