Recap: Rio Grande City Rattlers vs. Martin Tigers
There's no place like home for the Rio Grande City Rattlers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 33-29 victory over Martin on Friday. For Rio Grande City, this counts as revenge for the 37-30 loss Martin walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Martin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shelby Botello, who scored six points along with two steals. Botello has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiara Gonzalez, who scored seven points.
Rio Grande City's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Martin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Grande City will face off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Veterans Memorial is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against Roma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
