Softball Recap: Kings Extends Home Winning Streak to 21

Kings never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Little Miami Panthers as they made off with a 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Not much got past Neely McElhaney, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Little Miami off the board. McElhaney has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Parkhurst was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Alexis Fera also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Kings pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Little Miami, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kings will head out to face off against Loveland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Little Miami, they will head out on the road to square off against Springboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
