Baseball Recap: Sodus Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sodus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pavilion Golden Gophers 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Austin Cincinello spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Evan Laird was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Salerno, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Sodus pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pavilion, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

As of now, neither Sodus nor the Golden Gophers have any future games scheduled.
