Basketball Game Preview: Appleton West Terrors vs. Oshkosh North Spartans

Appleton West hasn't had much luck against Oshkosh North recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Appleton West Terrors are taking a road trip to take on the Oshkosh North Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 103-63, which was the final score in Appleton West's tilt against Hortonville on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Terrors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Polar Bears are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Oshkosh North had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured an 85-80 W against the Cardinals.

Oshkosh North's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.7 points over those games. As for Appleton West, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.

Appleton West was taken down by Oshkosh North 86-49 when the teams last played back in January. Can Appleton West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
