Baseball Recap: Barren County Takes a Loss

Barren County fell victim to South Warren and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Colten Wilson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Barren County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Reece, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases. Axel Dysholm was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Barren County's defeat dropped their record down to 23-9. As for South Warren, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 26-7.

Coming up, Barren County will head out on the road to challenge Muhlenberg County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Warren, they will be playing at home against Russell County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
