Basketball Recap: Deming's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

Deming and Gallup squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Deming had to settle for second. They lost 58-38 to the Gallup Bengals. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Bengals are ranked fourth).

The loss snapped Deming's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 21-8 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points on average over those games. As for Gallup, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-2.

Deming does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gallup, they will face off against Portales at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Gallup's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
