Football Recap: Mater Dei Drops Season-High Score on St. Teresa + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei). They were the clear victors by a 65-39 margin over the St. Teresa Bulldogs on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-21.

Hunter Hochbaum produced another solid performance throwing for 367 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 75 yards and a pair of scores. Those 367 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Bodie Brockmeier was another key player, gaining 98 total yards and two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Mater Dei's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Lydon Barwick was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Dylan Souder got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mater Dei's record is now 3-5. As for St. Teresa, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will take on Mt. Zion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Teresa, they will face off against St. Bede at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
